Third Kind™ debuts new skateboard light at Surf Expo

This particular Surf Expo was extremely anticipated by the entire Third Kind™ crew for a number of reasons. First and foremost was the debut of our latest skate light model. At the prior September Surf Expo we were fortunate enough to hook up with an expert in LED technology and manufacturing. In the couple months leading up to the January Surf Expo we spent countless hours both day and night redesigning and re-imagining the perfect skateboard light. We took everything we learned from our successful first model and applied our vision to world leading battery and LED technology manufacturing. Third Kind™’s new flagship skateboard light kit features a brand new button that gives the user the ability to choose between seven colors or an auto-cycle feature that strobes continuously through all of the colors. Pick one light to start the night and switch it up as you cruise around town. Recharging has also been made easier and more efficient with the addition of a micro-USB port. Just a 20 minute charge can provide up to 10 hours of light! Along with a brighter more efficient brain our battery slimmed down with a more than 50% weight reduction and gained strength from military grade ruggedization applied both to the internal components and to the external case. The packaging also received a major upgrade with a beautiful hard box with plenty of clear windows to show off the new patented Third Kind™ battery unit.

Secondly, and in addition to having a product that was ready for Surf Expo, the Third Kind™ crew was ready and focused. Weeks before the show we began to plan our attack to acquire new retail dealers along with major distribution. On the top of our list the industry’s most respected distributors and retailers to include BC Surf & Sport, Eastern Skate SupplyOcean Avenue DistributionCoastal Surf Supplies, and Keystone Skate Supply. Along with a stellar product we had the attitude and swag to back it up. Locally owned Stitches & Screens donned us with brand new printed tees for our social team and for the sales team it was Third Kind™ logo stitched button downs and polo shirts. Surf Expo was hosted  January 8-10 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. Buyers from the surf and skate industry came from across the U.S., the Caribbean, Central and South Americas and around the world to see what’s new and hot. For this expo it was Third Kind™ and our new and highly innovative skateboard light kit. We did not disappoint

When the show was closed and it was time to play we showed up for the party just as hard. Friday night Strata threw down along with Instaramp at Wall Street in downtown Orlando. The atmosphere was nothing but stoke with Strata picking up the beer tab and the skaters throwing it down on Instaramp; the portable half-pipe. To close out an awesome Surf Expo the Third Kind™ expo crew celebrated with Beebs and Her Money Makers at Tanqueray’s downtown. BAHMM rocked the house with their signature sound and ability to start a dance party whenever, where ever. It was a perfect compliment to the awesome show week that we had.

Keep a look out for Third Kind™’s coming travels to Puerto Rico for the Guajataka Downhill Skateboarding Races and Munich Germany in February for the ISPO.
