Support Third Kind on Kickstarter

Click HERE to see our Kickstarter project and to learn more about locally owned Third Kind skateboard lights.

For 2.5 years now we have been developing and testing multiple ways to light up a skateboard. Our beta skateboard light was good, we learned a lot and made some excellent upgrades to our patented LED skateboard kit. Now we are ready to take our lights for your skateboard to the next level by launching a Kickstarter campaign. We will be launching the campaign FRIDAY. MAY 1 ST at 1 pm EST Jump on our Kickstarter early because we are offering crazy rewards, but in limited quantities. Also our skateboard lights will be available on Kickstarter before anywhere else.

I want to thank everyone for the amazing support to get us this far. We have created and patented a skateboard light kit that easily mounts to any skateboard. Our newest model to light up your skateboard features military grade ruggedization, extreme water-resistance and micro USB recharging. We have come along way to getting our Third Kind™ skateboard lights where we want them. We have spent a lot of time designing and testing and now we are ready to launch our newest model to light up every skateboard exclusively on Kickstarter. Our product is completely designed, owned and operated by skateboarders and we intend on keeping it that way. We need your help and support to take us to the next level so that we can remain skater owned. Otherwise we will have to bring in non-skater kooks to support us financially… and we don’t want that. Your support does not come without reward. We are offering all kinds of awesome and exclusive Third Kind™ rewards to include shirts, hats, stickers, tanks, custom skateboards, limited edition models, first dibs on our newest light kit and even trips to Puerto Rico for the Guajataca Downhill next year!

Don’t wait to help and donate. For the first donors we have crazy, but very limited deals on our skateboard lights. We will be offering the very first 10 units at below manufacturing cost.

New Skateboard Light Model Debuted at Surf Expo 2015

Third Kind™ debuted our latest and greatest skateboard light at Surf Expo this past January! WOW! What an awesome event!

For two years we have been developing, testing and collecting skateboarder feedback to create the best possible product. Well, we are never quite finished, but this year we definitely put together one bad ass, shred ready skateboard light. We took what we learned from our first Third Kind™ skateboard light and digested all of the awesome feedback we received from skaters around the world and designed and tested something beyond. Our newest skateboard light features military ruggedization, extreme water-resistancy, 7 selectable colors and USB rechargeabilty. We did all of that and reduced the weight by more than 40%.Our new skateboard light can be easily charged with you computer, wall outlet and even your car. Our new skateboard light battery lasts up to 10 hours per charge and can be seen from up to a mile away! Now you can take light to your favorite skatepark and remain lit and safe on your night commute.

This was the best Surf Expo yet! Numerous retailers, wholesalers and distributors had their eyes on us. Many of them had great things to say and really noticed the progress we have made since debuting our first ever skateboard light model at the September 2013 Surf Expo. It has been a long road creating the best possible skateboard light from grassroots, but thanks to so many friends, family and skateboarders all over we are on the right path and look forward to getting Third Kind™ skateboard lights in a rad local shop near you!

Third Kind™ debuts new skateboard light at Surf Expo

This particular Surf Expo was extremely anticipated by the entire Third Kind™ crew for a number of reasons. First and foremost was the debut of our latest skate light model. At the prior September Surf Expo we were fortunate enough to hook up with an expert in LED technology and manufacturing. In the couple months leading up to the January Surf Expo we spent countless hours both day and night redesigning and re-imagining the perfect skateboard light. We took everything we learned from our successful first model and applied our vision to world leading battery and LED technology manufacturing. Third Kind™’s new flagship skateboard light kit features a brand new button that gives the user the ability to choose between seven colors or an auto-cycle feature that strobes continuously through all of the colors. Pick one light to start the night and switch it up as you cruise around town. Recharging has also been made easier and more efficient with the addition of a micro-USB port. Just a 20 minute charge can provide up to 10 hours of light! Along with a brighter more efficient brain our battery slimmed down with a more than 50% weight reduction and gained strength from military grade ruggedization applied both to the internal components and to the external case. The packaging also received a major upgrade with a beautiful hard box with plenty of clear windows to show off the new patented Third Kind™ battery unit.

Secondly, and in addition to having a product that was ready for Surf Expo, the Third Kind™ crew was ready and focused. Weeks before the show we began to plan our attack to acquire new retail dealers along with major distribution. On the top of our list the industry’s most respected distributors and retailers to include BC Surf & Sport, Eastern Skate SupplyOcean Avenue DistributionCoastal Surf Supplies, and Keystone Skate Supply. Along with a stellar product we had the attitude and swag to back it up. Locally owned Stitches & Screens donned us with brand new printed tees for our social team and for the sales team it was Third Kind™ logo stitched button downs and polo shirts. Surf Expo was hosted  January 8-10 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. Buyers from the surf and skate industry came from across the U.S., the Caribbean, Central and South Americas and around the world to see what’s new and hot. For this expo it was Third Kind™ and our new and highly innovative skateboard light kit. We did not disappoint

When the show was closed and it was time to play we showed up for the party just as hard. Friday night Strata threw down along with Instaramp at Wall Street in downtown Orlando. The atmosphere was nothing but stoke with Strata picking up the beer tab and the skaters throwing it down on Instaramp; the portable half-pipe. To close out an awesome Surf Expo the Third Kind™ expo crew celebrated with Beebs and Her Money Makers at Tanqueray’s downtown. BAHMM rocked the house with their signature sound and ability to start a dance party whenever, where ever. It was a perfect compliment to the awesome show week that we had.

Keep a look out for Third Kind™’s coming travels to Puerto Rico for the Guajataka Downhill Skateboarding Races and Munich Germany in February for the ISPO.
